Clock in guests run too slow.

Post by kcg »

Hello,
I'm using public beta for OpenSolaris on SXDE 1/08 together with several linux-based guests. I'm using guests for software testing, but it seems time in guests run too slow in comparison with wall clock. The ratio is about 1 second in guest and 4 seconds on wall clock, i.e. wall clock runs 1 minute while clock in guest runs during the same time just 15 seconds.
I'm using /home mounted over NFS from Solaris host and doing builds on it from guests is not perfect since thanks to slower clock I'm getting a lot of "clock skew" warnings from make.
Is there any workaround how to make clock in guest running precisely?
Thanks!
Karel

I'm not sure about this particular situation, but it is known that the clocks will differ more and more over time without guest additions installed, which occasionally correct for this. As far as 1 min = 15 sec, that does seem unusual, but it probably has something to do with different timer resolutions between Linux/Windows.
