I have application (dont have the installation CD for the application anymore) on an old Solaris 5.7 box and we need to clone the whole Solairs 5.7 server on the VirtualBox because so the old server could be retired until we are able to migrate to the new T1000 Sun server next year. I do have the Solaris 5.7 media CD I can use to install in the Virtualbox as Guest. My questions are:
1. Does Virtualbox supports Solaris 7 as guest on Solaris 10 as Host?
2. How about Solaris 7 as Guest on Windows 2008 as Host?
3. What is the best method to clone my old Sun server Solaris 5.7 to the Virtualbox environment? use Kleo or Solaris Flash etc?

1. Just try it. You will found in a matter of seconds if it works or not. I dont think it works
2. I dont think Solaris 5.7 works in VB.
3. For Solaris 5.8 and Solaris 5.9, you can basically zip the whole OS installation and drop it, into a Solaris 10 Container/Zone. This will allow S10 to run Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 installs, unmodified. Maybe you can do the same for Solaris 5.7? Here is a guy who zipped Solaris 5.8 computers, and dropped the zip file into Solaris 10:
