Tv card in WinXP guest ?
Openindiana 148 host/ Win XP (SP3) guest. Most of my legacy WinXp stuff is working well in VBox. However today I tried to install PCTV Systems TVCenter (Version 6.2). The install appeared to complete successfully but on attempting to tune to terrestial digital tv signals (in United Kingdom) I got messages saying the device is not attached, and there must be at least one antenna (there is). OIs device driver software picks up the tv card but has no driver, which is why I hoped WinXP would take it on (It did on this machine when previously installed as the only OS). I don't see any configuration setting to alter in VBox. Is this a hopeless case ? Thanks

Re: Tv card in WinXP guest ?
If the PCTV is a USB device it might work, but if it is a PCI it more than likely will not.

Re: Tv card in WinXP guest ?
Dear Richard,
there is no special support for PCI cards within VirtualBox. It is possible to have PCTV by usb device, but you have to check the performance.
Since yesterday I use a different way with DVBViewer on WinXP by streaming PCTV to the VirtualBox client. Therefor you need a separate
PCTV Server, with may be multiple TV devices (PCI) and for example DVBViewer. The PCTV Server will stream and record, the DVBViewer
client will only receive the stream and is also able to switch TV channels and lots more.
I also would be very happy to be able to put my PCTV devices into my Oracle Solaris 11 b150 server and be able to transparently allocate PCI
devices to one single virtual machine.
Are there any good working PCTV software running under Solaris, which is able to stream multiple transponders to multiple clients? That would
be nearly a professional solution

Thanks for the advice; it's a PCI device
