I'm really confused about SMP support on Virtual Box.
One would obviously think that adding cores to the guest should make it faster.
This is what happens on native machines: more processors, more power.
How can it be that this seems untrue on VMs? Isn't VTx and the like helping with this?
If my native machines has 8 cores, it does not mean I want to run 5-6 guests mono-processor, I may just want to run 2 guests 2-3 cores each.
I'm not convinced that VB is using real cores on my SMP machines.
What I see on the Task Manager, is all the CPU usage moving the same way....as if they were one CPU...
Should I switch back to mono processor??
Problem is, users now have multicore laptops, and they're used to see the many CPUs on their desktop task manager.
When these users see the VB guest running with a mono cpu, they feel like they're running an old machine, when they've bought an 8 cores server....

Re: SMP or not to SMP?
What you're seeing is described in your other thread. If you had SMP enabled from the start, then things would've been different.
