Problems using Adobe reader in Windows hosts

Postby gu99roax » 9. Nov 2010, 01:57

I have run into a peculiar problem. When running a Windows 7 x64 machine in OpenSolaris (I have not tried other hosts) I have a very strange behaviour with Adobe Reader and Acrobat.

If I have two pdf documents opened simultaneously the Reader/Acrobat (both 9.4.0) fails to display/render the second document. All I see is black and white boxes inside the pane that is supposed to contain the displayed contents. I can close it and return to the first document. This is not the case when running an XP x64 host.

I have also not encountered this problem when running Windows 7 x64 directly on the metal.

Try disabling the 3d acceleration. Also do you have the guest additions installed? With windows 7 the acceleration and experimental direct 3d drivers have not been functioning correctly for our university computers.
Good luck
