Interface naming bug with trivial fix (#17963)

Postby DWPoon » 2. Nov 2018, 19:45

ModEdit; related ticket: #17963: Trunk interface names truncated to 7 characters on macOS hosts

Two months ago, I filed bug 17963 (https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/17963) about truncated interface names on macOS hosts, along with a detailed diagnosis. The fix is trivial, but didn't make it into VirtualBox 5.2.20. What should I do to get the fix committed?

  1. Pray.
  2. Bribe.
  3. Threaten.
  4. None of the above... ;)
In all reality, patches/fixes/suggestions might take some time to incorporate. The developers have their own priorities, and the developer that needs to review/super-review this, might not be readily available, or busy on other things. You could ping the developers come Monday CET on IRC, or I could...
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.
