VRDP Server Source Code?

Post by jpippy »

I am wondering if the source code to the VRDP server is available. If so, then where can I find it?

No it's closed source. You can build the VNC server Extension Pack though.

Thanks for the reply perry. I am a little confused how it works and since it is not opensource I cannot see the code for myself. I am hoping you or someone else could shed some light. At first I thought the VRDP protocol may have been like SPICE and embeds to the host and communicates with drivers inside the virtualmachine and that is how it can RDP from the host while being invisible/headless. Although that doesn't seem to be it. How exactly is it connecting to a headless virtualbox on the host when it is invisible to the host, considering the host is Win 7 Home Premium and does not have RemoteAPP?

Virtualbox is simply using the RDP protocol, which is usable on any Windows installation via the Remote Desktop client, mstsc.exe
