file system errror

Postby Bucky » 22. Feb 2008, 18:07

I am trying to get a Fedora 4 vmdk image to work. It boots most of the way but ends at the file system check. See here:
Image
I know that this image was working on an XP system with vmware.
To complicate matters, this image refers to another image (another partition). the files I received are:
12,256M?bizsoln.vmdk
0?bizsoln.vmdk.lck
8,664?FC4.nvram
3,219M?FC4.vmdk
0?FC4.vmdk.lck
524,288K?FC4.vmem
0?FC4.vmsd
994,231?FC4.vmss
1,133?FC4.vmx
0?FC4.vmx.lck
262,144?swapfile.vmdk
0?swapfile.vmdk.lck
21,032?vmware-0.log
19,807?vmware-1.log
36,811?vmware-2.log
17,291?vmware.log
FC4.vmdk is the image to load with vbox.

Any help is greatly appreciated

I tried the vmware image on an XP machine, the file FC4.vmdk is described as a suspended image.
Could this be the source of my problem?
Funny thing is that booting the image (on the XP machine) it looks like Fedora is booting from scratch, not from a suspended state.

I noticed something else,
vmware file open dialog looks for the configuration file (i.e. FC4.vmx), I will boot to eCS partition and see if I can load the vmx file instead of the vmdk

I think Im on to something,
if you look at the error from my screen capture, it relates to the drive image with BizSoln
I think after booting Fedora, it wants to acces the other drive. I have already discovered that vbox wont load a vmware configuration file.
I tried adding all the vmdk images to the Manager, but that doesnt help.
Any ideas?

Lots of views, but no replies :(
I was able to install Fedora Core 7 no problem, VirtualBox is very impressive.
But I still have this vmware image I need to use.
On the windows side, I did a proper shutdown using wmware. Now the image files look like this:
12,256M?bizsoln.vmdk
8,664?FC4.nvram
3,219M?FC4.vmdk
524,288K?FC4.vmem
1,133?FC4.vmx
0?FC4.vmx.lck
262,144?swapfile.vmdk
I boot from FC4, and I have bizsoln as secondary.
I still get an error screen:
Image
It appears that Fedora can't find the bizsoln partition.
