Problems while installing ubuntu server

Post by luciana »

Hi,
I'm new on this forum and I apoligize for my bad english.
I have problems while installing Ubuntu Server 8.10 on VirtualBox OSE: when installer is starting up the partitioner, stops at 50% and doesn't go forward.
I have tried to install server edition with acpi enabled and without acpi enabled, but it doesn't work.

I'm using VB on ubuntu 8.04 (kernel version 2.6.24-23-generic)

Thanks
Luciana

Problem solved,
I needed to create a static virtual disk.
I apologize for my negligence.

Strange, shouldn't have to be. All the VMs I have use dynamic VDI files. Though I do use the PUEL version, but for the function of VDI it shouldn't matter.

I removed the ose version and installed the puel one 'cause I had kernel troubles.
With ose version, dynamic vd didn't work, it worked only with static one.
I don't know why... and I don't want to know :P
So with puel version I didn't try to use dynamic vd.
Now I haven't any problem and that's all (I only want to see that it works :P)
Thanks a lot
