error while running virutalbox OSE

Postby tumblebomb » 2. Oct 2008, 21:49

Hi, I'm running ubuntu 8.04 LTS and I installed: virtualbox ose1.5.6-dfsg-6ubuntu1, then i got this error:

VirtualBox kernel driver not installed. The vboxdrv kernel module was either not loaded or /dev/vboxdrv was not created for some reason. Please install the virtualbox-ose-modules package for your kernel, e.g. virtualbox-ose-modules-generic..
VBox status code: -1908 (VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED).

Result Code:
IConsole {1dea5c4b-0753-4193-b909-22330f64ec45}

So I then installed :virtual box-guest-source and virtualbox-guest-utils, This still does not fix the problem, I did notice that I do not have the /dev/vboxdrv module. Does anyone know how I should fix it?

You need the VirtualBox-OSE-modules, that package has the kernel module vboxdrv to get it working.
