Hello
Issue started happening today, when I turn on a machine in Virtualbox, even if it is minimized, it captures my mouse and keyboard and I cannot release - with any combination of keyboard key (even host button).
It started happening today and I made no changes before - really random.
Version was 6.0, I tried upgrading to 6.1 with same issue.
Can anyone advise?
Virtualbox 6 guest captures and locks keyboard and mouse
Re: Virtualbox 6 guest captures and locks keyboard and mouse
I just noticed that it only happens to just one of my several machines.
Any lead on why this would only happen on a single machine?

Re: Virtualbox 6 guest captures and locks keyboard and mouse
A guest that uses a PS/2 mouse needs Guest Additions installed and Mouse Integration to allow the mouse to pass in and out of the guest without being captured. The keyboard automatically feeds into whatever guest or the host has focus.
I just found out yesterday that there is a "Auto Capture Keyboard" checkbox in the main Virtualbox window's File menu, Preferences, Input tab, which will no let the keyboard go into whatever guest has focus unless you click in the guest (I think). But that would affect all guests.
You need to look at the settings and status bar for that one guest and compare them to the other guests to see what is different. Status bar shows Mouse Integration and Keyboard Capture status on the far right.

Often a source for similar problems is an "empty" USB filter without specified vendor and device ids in the guest configuration.

But that's the thing, this started happening all of the sudden out of nowhere.
I haven't changed a keyboard & mouse set, the ones I use are a set that use the same USB dongle.
What can cause this weird behavior?
I also noticed that if I remote to the computer using teamviewer, it all works fine.
Which again makes me suspect the keyboard & mouse set, but then why would only 1 VM be affected?

Re: Virtualbox 6 guest captures and locks keyboard and mouse
Please post the .vbox files for a working guest and the non-working guest.
Right-click the guest in the main Virtualbox window's guest list, choose Show in Explorer. Zip the guest's .vbox file, and post the zip file, using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.
