SOLVED Flameshot works and then it does not

I am running Linux Mint 19.3 Cinamon as host on HP Zbook

I am running a WIN10 guest on Oracle VirtualBox 6.1 - Not the forked Linux version.

The issue I'm having is that once I have Virtual box in full screen , Flameshot (on my linux host) does not want to take screenshots..

When I run Virtualbox in a window - not fullscreen, flame shot is erratic, it does not work and then it does again.

If I close virtual box, then flameshot works every time.

This seems to have possibly commenced after ive installed Plank dock in Linux Mint. Prior to Plank, I cant recall issues with Flameshot and VirtualBox in full screen.

Any comments or suggestions?

Ok Ive picked up something:

When I have VBox full screen Flameshot does not work.

The moment I have a Linux window like a browser or Thunderbird partly obscure or overlay the virtual box screen, then Flameshot works.

Before plank was installed it worked every time..

The solution was simple.


I needed to untick the "Auto Capture Keyboard"

Now it works like before,,,I can use the Flameshot hot key to invoke a screenshot at ANY time if the VM is the in focus window or not. This had nothing to do with Plank......Sorry plank LOL

As I am working all the time in Linux AND in my VM guest ( Win 10) it is imperative the screenshots work..( Flameshot) I need to send screenshots of the VM's screen to the clients in Email ( Thunderbird on Linux on the host)

Thanx VirtualBox !!!! Stunnig software!! Linux MInt and Virtualbox has given me a MUCH more stable multi tasking machine than before on Win10 alone..!!
