Need Help installing ESXI 7.0 Hypervisor on VirtualBox 6.1.6.
During the ESXI install, I get the following errors:
0:00:00:00:000 cpu0:1)MTRR: 907 No Variable MTRR; assuming ESX is running in a VM
No place on disk to dump data
No file configured to dump data
No port for remote debugger. 'ESCAPE' for local debugger.

ESXi is not a supported guest OS.
A long time ago it was possible to start ESXi in Virtualbox but not to run VMs in ESXi.
I don't think you have a chance to get ESXi 7.0 to work in Virtualbox.

A guest vbox.log might help, but be aware, even if you get the nested guest running, it will run like molasses. In January. In Antarctica.

I thought i would test out Esxi 7.0 on virtualbox to see what it is all about (I know, I know it is not a recommended guest). I got a similar error on one computer (looks like it doesn't like certain CPU's). So i tried it on a different computer and it bailed at the "no NIC available" message near the end. There is no built-in driver (VIB) for the network interfaces available in virtualbox at the moment. So maybe we will have to wait until 7.1AFGMick wrote:Need Help installing ESXI 7.0 Hypervisor on VirtualBox 6.1.6.

Hello,
I had similar issue, started from checking if laptop procesor is fine - it's with VT-x.
Then I was trying to run ESXI 7.0 with nested virtualization on, but process got failed each time during loading esxi installer files etc.
Then I changed the ESXI VM config to match these:
Linux / Other Linux 64bit
4 GB ram, 2 CPU, WITHOUT "enable nested VT-X" option selected. On the acceleration tab I deselected nested transactions/tables? (I'm not sure how it's translated, running on different than English language of virtualbox).
After doing so I was able to go through whole ESXI init and boot up process. But then I got error with getting proper NIC settings. After that, I've been trying to run ESXI VM on each available internal network card, PCnet, Intel, para virtual, there was six of them. Generally, each time the boot up process went fine, upon reaching the NIC information it got failed. It looks like some VirutalBox issues with NIC, regarding to nested ESXI.

Re: Need Help installing ESXI 7.0 Hypervisor on VirtualBox 6.1.6.
This is not a VirtualBox issue but an ESXI one...
VMware ESXi only runs on a specific limited selection of server hardware and with this new release this is even more restricted than before.
VirtualBox is defintely not a supported environment.
Therefore don't spend time trying to get it installed, it won't run.
