every time i open kali linux in vm box it's like a new system. nothing is getting stored in hard disk. what to do ? please help.

A typical Linux CD is a 'live CD', meaning it boots into the computer's memory without requiring the hard disk. Often the 'live CD' provides a program to install the Linux operating system to the hard disk. Then you need to remove the CD from the computer, and then boot from the hard disk. You will then be able to make and save changes and files.
You may be making the changes to the 'live' operating system without installing to the hard disk, removing the CD then rebooting first. Or you've left the CD in the guest and are still booting to the 'live' OS instead of the installed hard disk OS.
