noob question- can't use the guest additions

hey i am looking to use the guest additions, i am running vurtualbox on a ubuntu system (7.04) and using virtual box for windows xp. i believe that's called a windows guest, and a linux host.

when i click on the install guest additions in the dropdown menu nothing happens, there is no installation gui and no dropdown menu change, even after a restart.

is there somewhere that i need to download this iso? if so can i get a link?

do i already have it and i'm not doing something right?

Open Explorer, select the CD/DVD Symboil manually to start the Installer-EXE.

linux uses neither explorer or exe files.

where on the internet is the iso file? i don' t believe it is on my computer.

But the Windows Guest uses Explorer. First call the function in the menu, then my approach.

sorry for not understanding i'm still very new to this. i went under my computer and clicked the cd drive, and nothing happened. i installed virtualbox with automatix. does that make a difference?

edit:how do i call a function? i'm still very new.
