[WorksForMe] Why are the settings/tools greyed out?

Where can I find VirtualBox tools? By that i mean the tools that allow me to enable the serial ports. As installed the enable setting for serial ports is grayed out.

My error, I had the virtual machine running and it needs to be shut down first.

I changed the title of the thread from "Where can I find Virtual box tools" to something more appropriate, and I marked it as [WorksForMe].
Most of the VM Settings cannot be changed while the VM is running, paused or saved. It needs to be completely shut down. Similar to changing the hardware on your physical computer; you got to shut it down first, it's not going to be happy if you change it while it's running...
