32 or 64 bits guest ?

Post by LPT1please »

Hello,

When installing a Linux guest on a 64 bits Microsoft Windows host, is it preferable to install a 32 or a 64 bits Linux system ?
(the 32 bits version seems a little faster on my PC).

TIA for your recommendation.

Personally, I don't think I've seen any measurable differences, for example between an Ubuntu 16.04 32- and 64-bit guests. Your mileage may vary, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. Do whatever feels right for you, but remember that there's a tendency to remove 32-bit support lately...

Why don't you do an in-parallel test on your specific host/setup? It's 1/2-1 hour of testing at the most...
