Why do I have to reinstall my operating system when it shuts down?
XP got a blue screen but 7 was turned off normally. Both were just set up. Is that why?

You gave almost zero details about the problem. Please explain it in a little (actually a lot) more detail what happens, what steps you take, host, guest, details. If it was Linux, I'd say you're running from a LiveDVD, but for Windows? You got to explain the situation.

Re: Shutdown = Reinstall entire Windows Operating System
Guess: he failed to eject the XP install CD when prompted to by the installer, so the install just begins again on next boot.
