Wireless adapter detected with Kali Linux but NOT with Beini

Post by scriline »

Hello guys !

Simple question but something is disturbing me... I lately bought a wireless adapter you know something basic, I enabled it on an already existing kali linux virtual computer and it worked perfectly, I could connect to wifi from linux, etc... But then, when I put the Beini CD in my computer and restart the linux computer ( from linux itself ) and then press f12 to access the beini interface, well my wireless adapter is no longer detected, while it is the same virtual machine...
This is puzzling !
My principal OS is Windows, have you got any idea where the problem can come from ?

Thanks a lot !

Does Beini have drivers for it?

I downloaded Beini (that's from 2013, right?) and I'm going to try it. I highly doubt that it's going to have drivers for my USB WiFi adapter, but we'll see.

If you don't hear from me in a day or two, bump the thread please...

Honestly I don't know, a friend of mine gave a CD on which we read Beini so I don't know the year but the interface looks very old school so that's probable !
Thank you very much

Well, I tried my USB-to-WiFi adapter and it is indeed captured by the Beini CD, and it shows in the output of 'lsusb'. I didn't know what to do with it after that, but that's not the point...

I don't think it has to do with the WiFi adapter. At all actually. It could be any USB device for all the VM cares. I think it's time to take a look at the USB basics and troubleshooting, #8: Asking for help post.

There are some info there that are requested from you. Post them. I'll post mine for comparison, but I'll chop them for for brevity alone; as you can see I have 24 USB filters, you don't want to go though all of them. You on the other hand, should post yours whole, no chopping... ;)

00:01:24.061817 VUSB: Detached '00007f853451b260[proxy 0bda:8179]' from port 1 on RootHub#0
...
And from inside the Beini VM:

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 80ee:0021

Attach the USB-WiFi adapter...
