Switch major release version no issues with VM setting?

Post by NoNoNo »

Is it harmful? Can I switch major version more often, between 4.3 / 5.0 / 5.1 / 5.2, without any issues?

I just think about update my linux (debian) HOST from 5.1 to 5.2, then go back previous version 5.1 , and I like to know: Is there any problems could happen? will VM setting can no longer downgrade?

Most of the settings have no known issues that I've heard of. In fact I switch between 4.x, 5.0.x, 5.1.x and 5.2.x several times per week while testing behaviors, with no issues...

It all depends on what the VM settings are. Old versions obviously don't understand settings added in later versions, although they can usually ignore them.
