core dump on running VirtualBox on Windows10

Post by MBANKAL »

I ran the latest version of Virtual box with kali-linux iso 32 bit and saw the core dump (as attached). Running an older version of VirtualBox shows the same error.
Your inputs would be appreciated.

VirtualBox VM 5.1.36 r122416 win.amd64 (Apr 27 2018 13:46:37) release log
5.1.26 is a rather old version, you should be using the latest 5.2.18 (as of this writing).
00:00:02.595416 HM: HMR3Init: Falling back to raw-mode: VT-x is disabled in the BIOS for all CPU modes
00:00:03.414835 Full Name: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4030U CPU @ 1.90GHz"
You will need to address/fix the VT-x availability. Your i3-4030U CPU most certainly supports VT-x, so it's a matter of enabling it in the BIOS. See your PC's manufacturer help on how to do this. Also, make sure that nothing else has an exclusive hold on the VT-x.

PS. For future reference you should ZIP your logs. It helps save a (virtual) tree or two... ;)
