Re: HASP key not staying connected
This is very old now (in software terms) and VirtualBox 5.1 is no longer supported. I would start by upgrading to the latest version (5.2.18 as of writing).VBox.log wrote:VirtualBox VM 5.1.20 r114628 win.amd64 (Apr 18 2017 09:49:38) release log
You don't say which interface your Hasp key connects to but assuming it is USB...
With Windows 7 as a guest and USB3 enabled, I presume that you have installed the .Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver.VBox.log wrote:00:00:00.712924 [/Devices/usb-xhci/] (level 2)
Thereafter, I would suggest reading USB basics and troubleshooting.

My crystal ball is currently broken. If you want assistance you are going to have to give me all of the necessary information.
Please don't ask me to do your homework for you, I have more than enough of my own things to do.

Re: HASP key not staying connected
You need to contact the maker of the HASP key, since there is no way for us to know what it doesn't like about a VM.
Re: HASP key not staying connected
I contact the maker of the HASP key. He say that Hsap Key is OK.
He tell me that I can test with VMware.
I use VMWare player is fine with Hasp Key on same hardware PC, Same Windows OS.

Re: HASP key not staying connected
The newness of a driver is not necessarily an indication that it is better for a VM. The VM simulates a specific chipset. If a new driver does not address an issue affecting the simulated chipset then the new driver version is of no benefit.
Likewise, if writing a new simulation of a newer chipset has no particular benefit to a VM then it will not happen. I.e. it's an engineering decision.
The chipsets that VMWare chooses to simulate have no relevance in this discussion.

Dear:
I use USB Aladdin HASP with Virtual Box. The USB Hasp is not work.
You tell us that is Aladdin HASP problems.
Aladdin HASP engineer tell us that with VM Wave is not problem. That is Virtual Box problems.
Please tell us how should we do ?
Thank you

Re: HASP key not staying connected
Where did anyone say that? I said that only the HASP people can tell you what it doesn't like about the VM. Without that information nothing can be done to correct the deficit. A statement of "it's not our fault" does not provide that information.cccc1234 wrote: You tell us that is Aladdin HASP problems.
Ok, I'll make a guess about what it doesn't like: the timing. VMs have greater latencies than physical hardware, so if they want to allow the protected software to be installed in a VM then their dongle driver needs to use longer timeouts.
Re: HASP key not staying connected
Dear Sir,
We use USB-RS-232 adaptor. That is not work ,too.
Right now, We have two USB devices are not work with virtual box.
Sincerely,
C

One issue per topic please.
Re: HASP key not staying connected
Dear Sir,
We try three type USB Device. They do not work with virtual box.
They are USB stick, USB RS-232 Serial com-port and USB Hasp Key.
If there are more than three devices not work with virtual box, I do not believe that is USB manufacture
driver problems.
>One issue per topic please.
We guess most of USB devices are not work with virtual box in my IPC.
What do you want us to do ?
Thank you.
Sincerely,
C

Re: HASP key not staying connected
Does "USB stick" mean a USB flash drive? Not a criticism, I just want to make clear what my assumption is.
Others somehow manage to get USB flash drives and USB serial ports working, so there cannot be a systemic explanation of your problem, at least not in VirtualBox - perhaps the USB port is at fault.
HASP keys are something else, I personally expect those to give problems, since IP protection and anti-VM policies often go hand in hand.
USB Basics and Troubleshooting. Note particularly the parts about USB3 ports and Win7 guests.
Looking back at your original screenshot, I am concerned about all of the different drivers installed. Here for comparison is a screenshot from my own VM. As you can see it is much simpler (this shows just the root devices - there is no slave devices plugged in at this time). There are differences, e.g. I have not installed the Intel USB3 drivers, I live with EHCI only on the rare occasions I use USB in this VM.
