Re: Discuss the 5.2.4 release
5.2.4 seems to fix the 3D acceleration issues I've been having recently, e.g. as discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=85559.
However you MUST install the 5.2.4 GAs, otherwise the hang/overflow problems persist.

Same thing happened to me.aTanCS wrote:During update of VirtualBox Extension Pack:Code: Select all

Downloading and installing it manually worked fine.
Re: Discuss the 5.2.4 release
It would be nice if I could download it, but I get the following error:
Your connection is not secure
The owner of download.virtualbox.org has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.
This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox may only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate.

Re: Discuss the 5.2.4 release
Did you have that issue before? Did it work with 5.2.2? Please answer here with a simple "Yes" or "No". I've temporarily locked the other thread that you created in the "Windows Hosts" section. What will happen to that thread depends on your answer.

Re: Problems with 5.2.4 release and earlier after Windows Creators Update
Hi,
Not sure if I have posted in the correct place, but my older version of Virtual box (5.1.14) has been working perfectly in Windows 10 up to yesterday when my PC did the Fall Creator's Update from Microsoft. Since then, and despite updating to 5.2.4 I get the following error, see attached screenshot. The virtual machine is Windows 7 32 bit running a single program that must run in a 32 bit environment. The same applies to my other PC's (laptops), although the result code is the same, E_FAIL (0x80004005), the laptops both state Component: MachineWrap, Interface: IMachine {etc etc}
Can anybody assist please.
Thanks
Tony

Re: Discuss the 5.2.4 release
Discard the saved state of the error VM. In general, avoid updating VirtualBox while you have VMs in a suspended/saved state, as the saved state data is not necessarily cross version compatible, and this is certainly not helped if the host OS changed too.
Re: Discuss the 5.2.4 release
Many thanks,
I have had to do just that, discard the existing VM, re-create a new one and reload the OS. Now the problem of getting it to activate....

Re: Discuss the 5.2.4 release
I said to discard the saved state (right click VM in UI, choose "Discard saved state"), not discard the VM.
Re: Discuss the 5.2.4 release
Yes,
My apologies, I have discovered that it can be remedied by this means, and picks up on the VM again when started. I assumed discard meant delete, but that is not the case. Again Many thanks.

Re: Discuss the 5.2.4 release
I have removed all my VMs, but cannot install the extension pack. I get this error:
Failed to install the Extension Pack P:/Utils/Virtual Box/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.2.4-119785.vbox-extpack.
The installer failed with exit code 1: VBoxExtPackHelperApp.exe: error: Failed to rename the temporary directory to the final one: VERR_ACCESS_DENIED ('C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\ExtensionPacks\Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-_-inst-19080' -> 'C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\ExtensionPacks\Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack')
rcExit=1.
Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: ExtPackManagerWrap
Interface: IExtPackManager {edba9d10-45d8-b440-1712-46ac0c9bc4c5}
Any ideas for Windows 10 64 bit?

@pierrejamme
Try searching for "VirtualBox Extension pack VERR_ACCESS_DENIED". If you don't find the answer within the first page, please report back.
