[Solved] Accidentally resized virtual disk to 20TB

Post by Armtir »

Hi
I made a big mistake while i was resizing my virtual disk. I accidentally resized the virtual disk space of my Ubuntu VM to 20TB

Code: Select all

 C:\>VBoxmanage modifyhd ubuntu.vdi --resize 20000000
Is there a way to decrease the virtual disk space since i did not to anythig to it except this stupid mistake. I did not gparted it.
Or is it possible to create an image of my vm with the actual size ?

thanks :)

Version 3.0 of CloneVDI is able to shrink disks, provided you didn't store anything in the unwanted areas.

Remember to tick the "Keep UUID" option.

Hi mpack!
Thank you so much!
I did not know that tool.
It was no problem to decrease the size to 20GB :D

Yes, it is a very handy thing to know about. mpack is a bit of an expert on it - he wrote it (and maintains it) himself!
