Export Appliance function changes VDI to VMDK (? why ?)

Post by markfilipak2 »

What am I doing wrong?

When I export a VDI and then import it, the import's virtual disk is a VMDK. That's creating problems in the imported VM. I thought, "That's strange", so I tried exporting again. The original is 'Mint.vdi', but when I attempt to export it, above the progress bar I see this text:
Exporting to disk image 'Mint-disk2.vmdk'
so I cancel the export.

Why is Export Appliance saving 'Mint.vdi' as 'Mint-disk2.vmdk', and how can I fix the problem?

Thanks!

That is the expected behavior. See this post in this same forum.
