Do I need to install the extension packs?

Post by dcs.79c »

I have a Mac mini with macOS Sierra installed. I haven't tried out VirtualBox yet but I've explored it & browsed thru the manual.

Do I need to install the extension pack(s)? Why would one need to install extension packs?

  1. Moving to "Using VirtualBox", not even "OSX Hosts". This has absolutely nothing to do with "Linux Guests". Please pick the appropriate forum carefully next time, you'll get more knowledgeable people involved.
  2. For the specific additions that the ExtPack is offering, please read the documentation: https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch01. ... installing
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

I checked. There are no extensions installed.

So, again I ask, do I need to install the extension pack?

I'm sorry, but you checked what exactly?

I pointed you to the benefits of installing the Extension Pack. So, again, the answer is the same: read the chapter and if you need any of the features mentioned install the Extension Pack. I hope the second time it's clearer.
