VIrtual Machine in an external device

Hi there
Hope everybody is fine.
Please I’d like to know if somebody can help me in following topic
I have one pc, with an hard disk of almost 300GB, and W7 64bit
I need to change this pc, so that I’d like to create a virtual machine
To create the VM, I have a second PC with an oracle VM virtual machine installed, and with defined folder in
C:\users\user name\Virtual Box VMS (1)
I have already others VM running on this second PC.

Now, the problem is that I haven’t got 300GB in C for the new virtual machine
Please, Is there a way to create this virtual machine in an external drive, that I would connect via USB ?
I assume I can’t change (1), otherwise the other virtual machines won’t work more.
I hope to have been clear

Hello i have complete system installed on usb stick in this system installed virtualbox with 2 VM's everything work perfect co i think You can have Vm's on usb regards

If you want to change the default location for new VMs, go to VirtualBox Manager » Preferences » General » Default Machine Folder. This covers only newly created VMs. If you already have VMs created and you want to move them, take a look at: Moving a VM.

Hi there
First of all I’d like to thank you for your kind answer.
Unfortunately I faced to a new problem.
To summarize I
- Went to settings, and I changed
C:\users\user name\Virtual Box VMS (1)
in the folder of the external device
F:\Virtual Box

I created the VM with W7 64 bit

but

When I try to start this VM with oracle virtual box I got following error (please note that the system where the VM is running is a W7 64bit)

Hardware acceleration VT-x/AMD-V is enabled, but it is not working
64 bit guest won’t detect a 64bit CPU and therefore would not start.
Make sure of having enabled correctly VT-x/AMD-V in host computer BIOS.


Please, have I done something wrong ?
What do I need to do now ?
