Discuss the 5.0.16 release
Re: Discuss the 5.0.16 release
Bridged connections no longer work (previous version 5.0.14 works fine).
Host: Win 8.1
Bridged Connection Adapter: Built-in Intel Ethernet Connection I217-V
Guest system: Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS
With 5.0.16:
When Ubuntu tries to DHCP an address, the host machine's Ethernet adapter also tries to DHCP an address, disconnecting the adapter while it negotiates. Since the host machine is renegotiating it's IP, the guest machine fails to receive the DHCPOFFER, and tries again. This causes the host machine's ethernet to keep flickering while the guest machine never gets an IP.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to backrev guest additions, and it won't launch after upgrading the installation to 5.0.16, so on a fresh install:
In 5.0.14, Ubuntu gets it's DHCP address with no effect to the host machine adapter.

I'm not aware of any change in this area. Do you have a VBox.log file of a 5.0.16 session available?
Re: Discuss the 5.0.16 release
Hi Dear,
I am using iMac host and Windows 10 Guest on the VBox. So far it was working fine until the time when upgraded to 5.0.14. on the installation of Windows Guest Additions. The problem was also discussed at the other thread in this forum - "No device Ids found in INF 'C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\vboxvideow8.inf_amd64_dfae391ff47ca246\vboxvideow8.inf' for current platform". It was resolved by unistalling the Windows Guest Additions, then delete the folder, reboot and install it again.
Now when I upgraded to 5.0.16, VM was aborted and quit in the middle of installing the Windows Guest Additions. Have tried to install it again, same problem as described above happened. I tried the same method to uninstall, delete folder, reboot and install again, it went to abort and quit. After serveral unsuccessful trials, I tried to reinstall VBox 5.0.14 and its Windows Guest Additions, no luck, same problem and I could not resolve it. Then I have to restore the whole Mac OS using Time Machine in order to run the old verison of VBox.
I have posted this thread to Windows Guest but the moderator suggested me to post here. Any advice will be helpful or shall I ignore all the future upgrades. Thank you for your kind assistance in advance.

Re: Discuss the 5.0.16 release
I have 5.0.16 installed on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
Why doesn't it remember where I want it on my desktop like 4.3.36 did?

Re: Discuss the 5.0.16 release
I have the exact same issue since 5.0.16. I have worked before with 5.0.14 without any problems.
I have not the Intel Ethernet Connection I217-V, but the I219-V.
After Install
* VirtualBox NDIS6 uninstall brings me an error
* VM start breaks because of an error like this -> Failed to open/create the internal network 'HostInterfaceNetworking-Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V' (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND).
* Other settings also effected. Every change on the network device brings me more errors.
System
Windows 10 x64
I hope it is fixed soon

Re: Discuss the 5.0.16 release
@WPWong: please provide a VM log file. With the VM fully shut down, right click it in GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (ONLY) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

Re: Discuss the 5.0.16 release
I have fixed your URLs. However even as a new user you could have attached these files locally.
Re: Discuss the 5.0.16 release
Thanks for fixing my urls. I hope you can find something interesting in it. I have to switch currently to nat mode, because no uninstall is working and a revert to a earlier version is also not working.

Re: Discuss the 5.0.16 release
Re potential broken networking on Windows hosts with VBox 5.0.16, please look at ticket 15209.
Re: Discuss the 5.0.16 release
I have tested the 5.0.17 version, but the same problem.

I guess this change:BrianG61UK wrote:I have 5.0.16 installed on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

GUI: position off-screen windows to be fully visible again on relaunch
has a bug.
