Seems the announcement was a bit premature. Windows version not available yet.

There is a GUI bug on this 5th version series.
BUG: menu entries lists of the small menu shown in the full-screen mode in Guests appear under the mouse pointer causing unwanted selections of the latest menu entry (pointed depending on the mouse-pointer position).
Ho to reproduce: In full screen mode, go to the bottom and let's appear the small menubar (the problem is only when small menu positioned at his default on the bottom, not when on the top of the full screen mode), click for example on "File" and you will get the window for powering off the virtual machine.
It's why the menu list appear under your mouse pointer and releasing the click you select the unwanted option to close the virtual machine, accidentally pointed by the mouse.
Solution: VIRTUALBOX PROGRAMMERS have to change this behavior placing the menu entry list up (not over) the small menu position when in full screen mode and on the bottom. Perhaps the software calculate the position starting on the initial state of the menubar when into hidden state? If positioned on the top there are no problems.

Hi to all.

What Host and Guest OS are you running? I take it you mean the mini-toolbar. Maybe I'm not understanding what the problem is. The File Menu contains Preferences, Network Operations Manager..., Reset All Warnings and Close. The Close dialog only opens if you select Close.

How is this a problem?

What i wrote it's very clear and simple to understand... Have you read all?
Install Virtualbox 5.0.12
Install a Windows or a Linux Guest (it's the same problem).
Set up to use the mini toolbar when in full-screen (at his default position that's the bottom)
Then switch in Full Screen Mode when ready
Now if you move the mouse pointer over the central zone of the bottom of the screen you can see the menu toolbar appears and disappears. Right?
NOW READ CAREFULLY...
If you click on any menu entry of the mini toolbar the drop down menu appears UNDER YOU MOUSE POINTER so when you release the left click you accidentally launch the options positioned under your mouse pointer... (in the case of File menu is the Shutdown option).
THAT'S ALL
If you Set up the small menubar appear on the top of the screen you don't have the same behavior, the drop down menu is shown just after the the mini toolbar menu area (far from your mouse pointer).

I hope i was as clear as possible now .
THANKS.

Mine must be broken. I had to release the left click to take this screen shot and my guest didn't close.

hi!

in my case the update to 5.0.12 was a step -back- and not ahead..cause now i re have the problem that
when i try network bridged my realtek card is not recognized..
instead with 5.0.10 no problem on it..
anyway also with 5.0.10 then the network bridge option do not work..
but this is an other old history that relate back to the born of win 10 23july
since that date with all yr release and testbuilds i am not able to use bridged but only -NAT-

but i repeat at least the card was uploaded and recognized..
now with yr latest 5.0.12 no...

win 10 home 64 host
win xp guest

cheers

@Bobbix: did you answer Lou's question about what host OS you're using? It's a very relevant question and if you answered then it's escaping me.

But, I should point out that this seems to be standard Windows behaviour: if you click and hold in a menu bar and then release over the resulting popup menu, then Windows activates the menu item under the mouse cursor. This is all done by Windows - the app just gets a "menu item selected" message with no knowledge of how. This could only be overridden by replacing the entire Windows menu interface.

I suggest being more careful where you click. Besides which, whether you accidentally clock the close (X) button or choose close from a menu, the next thing that happens should be a dialog that pops up for confirmation in order to prevent exactly these problems: did you disable this dialog?

This behaviour of Windows isn't something I've noticed before: I suspect that most users will click (press+release) on the menu bar, not click+drag. Are you accustomed to something other than Windows?

FWIW, I wasn't aware "Click+Drag" in a menu was ever the norm since before XP, or any other OS.

I use Windows 10 and Windows 7 Hosts on Windows or Linux Guests.
As written by loukingjr click+Drag in a menu was ever te norm (in any OS), but Pint and Click (releasing click button too).

If for you it's a normal beavior.. what king of OS are you using? :-)
Why when the mini toolbar is positioned on the top this beavior change???

Simple.. it's a bug.

As you can see from my signature, I use OSX, Windows and Linux hosts with OSX, Windows and Linux guests. OSX hosts do not have a mini-toolbar in full screen when running guests because it's not needed.

There is no "bug". It functions as it should with all hosts and guests.
