Hello All,

I am new with VB and I am running WinXP SP3 on Win10 and DnD only works from Guest to Host.
I saw it happened too with 5.0.8 but didn't see any solution provided.

Is there something I did wrong? (Of course, I chose checked Bidirectional)

Thanks for your help,

Lim.

The one which was in the 5.0.10 folder (this is my first installation, so a fresh one)

It's not a feature I use (and anyway it doesn't seem to be supported on my XP host), so we'll have to wait for someone else to comment.

In the XP Task Bar on the right, you should see the VirtualBox Icon. Mouse over it and see what it says. The icon may be hidden with others.

Thanks for your help guys.

It says : Oracle VM VirtualBox Guest Additions 5.0.10r104061

This is the package I have downloaded 5 hours ago.

First, you don't have to download the guest additions. They are part of the VirtualBox program.

To install them, you select "Insert guest additions CD image…" from the Devices menu. That will mount the CD image on the XP desktop. It will either start on it's own or you have to open the CD and run the installer.

I was not clear enough, despite that if I can read the Mouse-Over the text you wanted to know, this means that I have already installed the GA's.

By "package", I was meaning the VB 5.0.10 installer which includes the GA's.

So to sum-up, I think this is a full installation with the latest realease, reason why I don't understand why I cannot DnD from Host to Guest, and only from Guest to Host.

See: Investigating drag and drop (DnD) problems. I don't know how up to date it is, but it should be a great starting point. It's definitely after the 5.x series came out, so the instructions should be pretty recent.

I have done this already and have no file at all in the Temp folder after trying to DnD from Host to Guest.
(I have installed the Tools and run the 3 lines as Administrator)

No problem, it could easily have been the case  I am a real noob.... But the Wiki is very well done.

So 3D accelaration is disable (both Host and Guest) I don't need it.

Disabled 3D acceleration for the Host? gosh I hope not. Drag n Drop should work from host to guest now.

Well, 3D acceleration is already disabled as I cannot enable it because it is greyed in the Display Configuration tab for the VM.
