Hey guys,
Hope this is the right forum, but I never have an issue when I get the handy popups that say there's a new version of VB, but this time I seem to be getting one when I have the most current version
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 and currently have VB v4.3.26 r98988, so when I go to download the 'newer' version - it's not only the exact same version, but if I run it, it gives me the options to Repair or Remove.
Anyone know if this is a 'Windows' issue, or a VB release issue ???
Sorry in advance if this was supposed to be in another forum.
Update popup??

Re: Update popup??
P.S. I did run the installer anyway and it still gives me the popup saying there's a newer version

Re: Update popup??
If you mean the popup in the Taskbar when you are running a guest, that is to notify users the guest additions for that guest are out of date.
In other words, whenever you install a new version of VirtualBox, you should also update the extension pack and the guest additions for any guests you have.

Re: Update popup??
Hey loukingjr - thanks for the reply.
My bad - I should have been clearer - no it's when you first fire up the VB Manager to then fire up a VB, and then you sometimes receive the popup that there's a new version of VB (which I always update to), only this time, I have the most recent version, so that's why I was asking if there's an known issue with this happening.
Thanks

Re: Update popup??
hmmm, I've been using VirtualBox for 6 years and I've never had a "There is a new version of VirtualBox available" popup. So, beats me.
edit: I found a setting in the VirtualBox preferences under Update, It has three choices…
Stable Release Versions
All New Releases
All New Releases and Pre-Releases.
Mine was set to Stable Release Versions. You might want to check the setting.

Re: Update popup??
Just checked - set to 'Stable Release' as well.
Strange that you've never had a 'new version release' popup. I've only used VB for 3-4 years and I always had them come up when I fire up the VB manager after not using it for a while.
Oh well - it's not a 'horrible' issue like some of the posts I've read, so if it's just a 'glitch', I'll just wait for the next 'actual' new version and see if it corrects it.
Thanks much anyway for taking the time to reply.

Re: Update popup??
I may not see them because I get an email notification of new releases and install them or I see them on the site before the "Check For Updates" is in Sync. I don't know why yours keeps telling you there is a version that you already have. It doesn't seem to be a common occurrence though since yours is the first mention of it I remember.

Re: Update popup??
Yeah - probably why I couldn't find a like issue in the forums (lol)
Anyway, like I said - not a 'deal breaker' issue for sure. I'll just ignore it until an 'actual' newer release comes out, update it, and that will probably correct it.
Cheers
