VirtualBox has no problem with long filenames that I'm aware of, it's designed as a multiplatform app after all. Windows OTOH itself has limits on both individual element name length and total length.

Hello
Old post new info.
I just found using Windows 11 iso created by UUPdump that the iso extension is capitalized.
It does not matter on Windows host but on Linux host (Ubuntu) for me, change .ISO to .iso.
Good to go!

Yes, Linux is case-sensitive, whereas Windows is not.
