I created a NAT Network using the GUI (VirtualBox Manager | File | Preferences | network | NAT Networks) and then later decided I wanted to change the IP range. I don't have the exact record, but I think it was from 10. to 192.168. This network was acting as a DHCP server. After the change I noticed my VM (Debian Linux 64 bit) was still being assigned an IP in the old range, and VBoxManage list dhcpservers showed a server with the old IPs associated with the new network.
As a result of this, the VM had no useable network connectivity.
I think I tried modifying the DHCP server with the command line VBoxManage tool, but the VM still started with the old IP. Eventually I deleted the NAT network, created a new one, and associated it with the VM. That worked.
It seems to me that the DHCP server should change so that it is always consistent with its associated network.
VirtualBox 4.3.22 on 64 bit Win 7; linux 64 bit VM.
