I would like to leave VirtualBox running. My guest machines running and log off of the host. My host machine is a Windows server 2012 R2. I would like to run it like Hyper-V runs.
Can you tell me how to do this?
Fred

No, you cannot do that. VirtualBox runs as an application program under the user account. It will shut down if you sign out.
Can you really do that in Hyper-V on Server 2012? You can't in Hyper-V on Windows 8/8.1.

Yes you can do that on Server 2008 R2 and server 2012 R2 (and I assume others, but this is what we are running)BillG wrote: Can you really do that in Hyper-V on Server 2012? You can't in Hyper-V on Windows 8/8.1.

I am still interested in running VirtualBox after logging out of the host.

Take a look at: [VBoxVmService] -> Discussion & Support. Note: I have NOT used it myself.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

Re: Running VirtualBox after host Logoff
I have used the VMService add-in Socratis suggested, and it does work fine. Guests run like services do, without you having to be logged on, and they run after you log off, too.
