Hi @ll,
sorry for just asking here - no idea, where it would be better. Further: I tried hard to solve this issue on my own...
Constallation:
Host Win XP Prof 6cores, Guest Win XP Prof 2cores (host is planned to be upgraded to win 7 64)
Host: one GB ethernet onboard, one GB as card (DLink DGE528) bridget to the guest using virtio ... , AMD Phenom II 1100, 4GB
The guest system has to recalculate data from files on the network (2 GB a day to read, maybe 500mb to write)
when looking in the guests taskmanager it has max. 5% networkutilization out of 1Gbit linkspeed and 20% CPU usage / host taskmanager mentions always 0,03% to 0,08% regardless usage by the guest
How do I push the network throughput ???
Virtio was the fastest method - as well as normal bridging provides only 100Mb linkspeed
What do I have to do?
regards
ma_js
btw: if anybody could reply in german as well, I'd be a lucky one

Re: Networking problems
Probably drop the guests CPU count to 1. Network IO seems to not work well in SMP. My understanding is they are re-writing this to fix the issue but no ETA.
networkspeed keeps very low
Thx...
I tried but there is no significant change in speed...
I wonder... is there nobody running Virtualbox having similar network load? Any Idea of a workareound?
