after upgarding from 4.1.8 to 4.1.10 i can't access USB devices anymore.

(translated from german message box:)
"No access to USB-subsystem. The USB-Prox-Service couldn't get started. The service might be not installed on this computer"
Details:
Fehlercode:
E_FAIL (0x00004005)
Komponente: Host
Interface: IHost {dab4a2b8-c735-4f08-94fc-9bec84182e2f}
Callee: IMachine {5eaa9319-62fc-4b0a-843c-0cb1940f8a91}

Host System is Windows XP (32bit), the extension pack is installed (version 4.1.10).
I tried to deinstall the ext.pack, reboot, reinstall the ext.pack reboot again, no success.

One hint - no matter how many times you uninstall or reinstall the extension pack, it will have no effect on this issue.

Thanks for this update,
3D functionality has improved significantly with NVIDIA card under Squeeze. Re-painting the guest window when not running in foreground now works fine, also focus switching (like stated in the changelog). I do hope this update also gets incorporated in Wheezy!

Setup here: GeForce 210, Nvidia driver 195.36.31 on Squeeze-amd64.

Best regards,
Ingo

P.S.: Also ACPI S3 (s2ram) of the host with VM's up and running works perfect without any issues.

No problem here on two different Macs.
The error I'm receiving is below. Have downloaded the package 3x now and the same error occurs with each install attempt:

3/15/12 6:32:36.599 AM installd: PackageKit: Install Failed: Error Domain=PKInstallErrorDomain Code=112 "An error occurred while running scripts from the package “VBoxKEXTs.pkg”." NSURL = "file://localhost/Volumes/VirtualBox/VirtualBox.mpkg/Contents/Packages/VBoxKEXTs.pkg";
PKInstallPackageIdentifier = "org.virtualbox.pkg.vboxkexts";
}

EDIT: I was able to finally get 4.1.10 installed but it involved completely uninstalling vbox, restarting the machine, and then installing. Attempting to upgrade to 4.1.10 failed with the above error each time.

So I am running ubuntu 10.04 as my host O/S, and have windows XP and windows 7 64-bit running as clients.

I just upgraded today to virtualbox 4.1.10 and now I cannot connect from MS Access 2007 to any of my oracle ODBC connections, from either Windows XP or 7.

From windows 7, the error that I am receiving is:

Code: Select all

ODBC--call failed.

[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred
(#12170) [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed IM006 0 [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed (#0)
And in windows XP the error is:

Code: Select all

Unable to connect
SQLState=S1000
[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred
I can connect to the database just fine from Toad for Oracle, on either VM, as well as from DbVisualizer in linux.

Win9x systems now seem to have stability problems on non VT-x systems - they ain't just slow any more!

Version 4.1.10 just showed up in Sid. So, if nothing unforseen happens, it should move to Wheezy in 2 weeks!

Iosa, I see you posted logs for a Win8 guest. To avoid pre-release sprawl we are keeping all Win8 guest discussion in a single thread here.

You also posted the same message in the "Win8 hosts" thread. So in addition to being off topic there it's also a cross posting, which is not allowed, so I'm deleting the other message.

On Linux Hosts with AMD Radeon VGA with free driver Vista and Windows 7 guests crashes when 3D is enabled (Aero with WDDM driver).

After installing guest additions 4.1.11 (build 76817, downloaded from the bug tracker) it worked again for vista guests.

Win 7 guests works with the GA form 4.1.8.

Hi Everyone,

Since I have moved to version 4.1.10, I cannot execute IE9 anymore.
I get the following error in the event viewer :
Faulting application name: iexplore.exe, version: 9.0.8112.16421, time stamp: 0x4d76255d
Faulting module name: MSHTML.dll, version: 9.0.8112.16434, time stamp: 0x4e28e61f
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x004667f0
Faulting process id: 0xbe0
Faulting application start time: 0x01cd05d518b3664f
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\MSHTML.dll
Report Id: 7451ac51-71c8-11e1-82af-0800271c6484

This seems to be related to Guest Additions. When I uninstall them, it works fine. As soon as they are installed, it is no longer possible to open IE.
My host computer is under Windows 7 x64 Enterprise Edition, so is my VM.
I rolled back to 4.1.8 with Guest Additions for the moment.

Are there any reported issues on this until now?

Many thanks in advance for your information.

EDIT 20/03: The issue appears only when using WDDM drivers. It works fine with basic direct3D.

Just upgraded to 4.1.10r and nothing works any more. I downloaded extension pack manually and re-installed. My last used .vdi is now appearing only as a snapshot, but none of my 3 machines will start up. The error message is the same whether I start from within the GUI or by double-clicking on a machine.

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine ______________[machine name].

Failed to load VMMR0.r0 (VERR_LDR_MISMATCH_NATIVE).

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {1968b7d3-e3bf-4ceb-99e0-cb7c913317bb}

any assistance would be wildly appreciated!

The error may indicate that you have mixed up files of two different versions.
Try to uninstall VirtualBox, check that the folder C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox has gone or ist empty and reinstall it.

Any attempt to get the windows 7 boot options by pressing F8 during the boot process causes a crash :-/

When I shut down the GUI and started the VMs directly via double click on the .vbox file, I was able to start the VMs in safe mode and install the Guest Additions.
It turns out that this is indeed a 4.1.10 regression. We fixed a bug which made trigger another bug. See public ticket 10370.
