The issue is Opera, and was discovered and posted in this thread at the beginning.

This is actually SSO issue, not Opera's.
Under no circumstances a server should judge client capabilities by it's face.
If you want to know, if certain something support some feature, try that feature, catch exception, then complain.

Setting login.oracle.com to see Opera as IE worked, thanks.

Oh man, if you only understood how it really works. "shrug"
The rejection is not coming from the server it is coming from the client that can not figure out what to do. That's the reason that setting it to a compatibility setting makes it work.

It's not a compatibility setting.
It's merely a faked user-agent string.

klaus wrote:Technically speaking it's an application integration problem - OSSO only takes care of secure user authentication (with the positive side effect that even if someone would break into *.virtualbox.org there would be no way to steal identities). The nickname handling is specific (and unfortunately different) for www and forums. Apparently you're running into unintentional behavior differences which probably means we have to make small changes to the OSSO integration on www.

The Oracle SSO support people won't be able to help, because the problem is outside their control and they gave you the right answer (they could've passed it to us internally, but I never saw that happen).
I am in the same scenario, I have changed my email address on OSSO and now I cannot re-use my previous nickname...
After 2 years I decided to give it a chance and I have changed again my email address associated to OSSO... unfortunately nothing has changed and I still cannot "reuse" my nickname.
The admin has solved for user robatino, can we solve the problem for me too???

Currently I have reverted back to the previous email, but if anyone can give me a step-by-step procedure I really would like to replace my email on OSSO...

Thank You

You need to send a PM to klaus or frank and they will take care of it for you.

I did sent the PM 2 years ago: one never replied and the other wrote "it's unrelated"... :(
