Possible I think. The default for phpBB was *not* to retain sessions between login and you needed to set it at login to retain.
I made sure that the DEVs know about it so we can see if it can be fixed.

I too want te feature back to be automatically logged on for the forum.
It is annoying to log on every time after a mail for new messages i want to see.

Especially since the Oracle login seems to be annoyingly slow.

No vacant threats from me, but it's inevitable that if participation is a pain in the ass, then people will participate less.

I admit that the need to re-login after the previous session ended is annoying. The reason is that the live time of the SSO cookie is only for the current session. Currently we investigate if this can be tuned.

Interestingly today at the office the "old" login cookie was still valid.
Here at home I have to login for each new session.

Ditto for my home PC this morning. Has the cookie lifetime been tuned already? Good work if so.

I did have a glitch for much of yesterday afternoon. I keep logging in to Oracle SSO, but when I was redirected back to the forums it still didn't show me as logged in. Reproduced on two PCs (Win7 and XP, Firefox 10 and 9). Frustrating. Hopefully this was just a short term glitch while the cookie lifetime issue was being worked on?

Anybody else having problems with the new login under Opera?

I'm constantly getting:

Code: Select all

Error
System error. Please re-try your action. If you continue to get this error, please contact the Administrator.
when I try to login.

When I first got this message I went to Firefox and claimed my old login without problems.
I deleted any cookies in Opera but still getting the error message.

Using opera you need to right click on the page, edit preference and set Operate to emulate FF or IE.

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately neither identifying nor masking as FF or IE is doing the trick for me. Always the same error message.
Anybody any other idea?

Sorry for this post but the forums are not letting me post anywhere until I have posted somewhere... if that makes sense... So I am just trying to get one post out so that I can post my main post... (sorry)

Goedl,
I'm using Opera. For login.oracle.com, I'm identifying as Firefox. For all other sites, I'm identifying as Opera. For all sites, I'm deleting cookies at the end of the session and only accepting them from the site I visit. I've told Opera to remember passwords for login.oracle.com and for forums.virtualbox.org and http://www.virtualbox.org, so I don't actually see the login page anymore.
Of course, this may be exactly what you've tried, but I offer the information just in case it isn't.

Thanks a lot for your help.
I weeded now through my cookies, deleted all but very few I'm sure about and now it seems to work.

I was attempting to register an account as it wouldn't accept my typical username (I guess I forgot I signed up with Oracle along time ago and must have already linked this user). It was asking for capitals and numbers in my password, which I do not use for dummy forum accounts (could care less if mine got hacked). Not only that, it forced me to type in a fake address, postal code, phone number, etc. to sign up. I beg, Oracle, remove these qualifications.

Edit: I was linked from viewtopic.php?f=9&t=49487 to post here

Trying to signin to the bug tracker, and I'm getting message:
"Nick name MarkCranness is already associated with a different user."

What is the process to claim/reclaim an old Id?

Edit: I used one email for my forum account and another email for my bug tracker account, which apparently is causing me Oracle SSO problems...
I wonder can two sso accounts be merged?
