Virtualizing more things?

Post by Lord_ZealoN »

Hi.

I use VirtualBox for run WinXP on my MAC for work.

Now, I'm using it to play Ultima Online and works like a charm.

The problem is with the new client (3D) thath crash on initialize.

The specs of the game is not too big, but for example, the SystemInfo of EA Games, told me about the processor speed of the virtual machine is 358MHZ. This can be solved in any way.

Other problems is with the graphic card. The game, GuildWars, worked on my old laptop with an Intel integrated card (as the card of my MAC) but does'tn work on the WinXP vitualized and crash with an error "DirectX can't create a windows" (or something similar, I don't remember the exact error)

Some ideas? New features for next BETA2 for OSX?

Virtual Machines emulates the Graphic Card.

Therefore 3D/DirectX doesnt work. The native driver disc doesnt work in guest, too.

Hey there,

I would suggest reading this post if you are wondering about 3D support.

Well, for my needs direct 3D support is not needed.

For example, I want to play Ultima Online's new client on my XP guest, and I think it crash because the video hardware. The EA's support app, fails on processor speed (809.7MHZ) and graphic card memory 0.0 o_O

The reqs are 1GHZ and 64MB. I don't know if this is the cause of the game crash

The thing thath I can't understand (about the technology) is why the guest, can't use the graphic card directly. This will to work Direct3D for example?

I don't understand about this, but, it's not possible to access directly to the graphics card? (without the VirtualBox Graphics Adapter).

I think this can solve more problems about games.
