Re: Discuss the 4.1 release
I've got the USB problem too. Win7Pro64 host, various guests. USB not working at all with the "Could Not Load The Proxy USB Service" message just like the others. No problems with USB prior to the upgrade. Do you want yet another bug ticket opened on this problem, or is there some news on a solution?

I've been having problems with my USB mouse for a long time.dano01sk wrote:I have problems with mouse, USB receiver is disconnected, connected, disconnected, connected, disconnected ... and mouse does not work...
XP x64 host, various guests. Quite often but not always, when I start the VBox Manager or when (with VBox Manager running) I plug or unplug any USB device (memory stick, printer, scanner...), my mouse pointer freezes. To have it back I must unplug it and plug it again. No messages whatsoever are shown.
This has nothing to do with any particular VM, as it happens also when no VMs are opened or running. No USB filters regarding the USB mouse are set in any VMs.
This has been happening, more or less frequently, throughout multiple VBox's releases. It looks like VBox has some problems in dealing with the mouse being both an "usb device" amongst the others and also THE "host's system mouse".
No problems at all when VBox Manager is not running.
I also opened a bug ticket about six months ago.

Similar mouse problem here, which I hadn't associated with VBox until I read Marco's post above.marco wrote:...

Not sure when it started, I don't think earlier than 4.0.8.
But the frequency has definitely picked up since installing version 4.1.0.

Re: Discuss the 4.1 release
Update: I realized today I experience the same trouble with Visual studio 2008. Mouse coordinates are bad and the trouble seems to be related to cursor shape change. When I approach the left part of the editor window (line numbers) and the mouse changes from right pointing arrow to left pointing arrow, coordinates are wrong when mouse moves from left to right, and good when it moves from right to left. I displace the mouse by a pixel and it jumps over the window by more than 40 and it's unusable since it clicks the wrong place.neanderthal wrote:I found a strange issue with notepad++ application running in a win7 guest. (http://notepad-plus-plus.org) I didn't have with 4.0.x.
The mouse pointer integration does weird things when you approach the left part of the window (where the line numbers are located) instead of correctly moving over the window, making the app pretty unusable.
Mouse coordinates are incorrectly calculated and pointer shows up at wrong position.
So this is the second mouse issue I found in this overall great version.
Host: Win7 64bit.

Re: Discuss the 4.1 release
Weird thing on Debian-testing guest: after upgrading guest additions the virtual terminals are not visible anymore, i.e. after ctrl-alt-F1 the screen is black, no cursor. I can switch back to GNOME (ctrl-alt-F7), but the text terminals are all black no matter what screen display modes I use. The host is Win XP SP3. Anyone noticed similar problems?

Re: Discuss the 4.1 release
I've got the same problem. My host machine runs with Windows Vista (Aero enabled). My virtual machine runs with Windows 7.dave78ab wrote:So I change the theme to the Windows 7 aero theme form Personalize, and it enables aero finally but starts flickering unstably at random until it crashes the dwm.exe Windows Desktop manager and reverts back to basic theme.
Tried a few times, rebooted. Same thing after changing to an aero theme, desktop goes to aero and turns unstable, flickering and black screen until it crashes dwm.exe.
I know the driver is experimental, but it doesn't seem to want to work on my setup at all.
I set up 128MB of VRAM for this last machine and installed the WDDM driver without problem.
Unlike dave78ab, I haven't got a NVidia card but a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450.

I don't know which other informations I can provide to help.

Host w7 x64, quest win7 x32.
3d wddm drivers hang the system
installing basic drivers in safe mode can't open d9d3.dll. Skipped, system works normal.

Re: Discuss the 4.1 release
I just noticed something regarding restoring a snapshot. The settings button is grayed out after the restore.
Is this the intended behavior? No guest settings can be changed just after a restore?
I don't remember seeing this before.

Re: Discuss the 4.1 release
if "3d wddm drivers hang the guest system"... it is usually the result of buggy host OpenGL drivers.
Which GPU, which drivers?

the clone feature in GUI s good but it would be nice if you can specify where you want to clone it, since you may want to have it in another disk drive.

Radeon 6700 ATI Catalyst 11.8. Well then it was 11.7 but that made no difference.Technologov wrote:if "3d wddm drivers hang the guest system"... it is usually the result of buggy host OpenGL drivers.

It's not a straight-forward dialog to get through. Took me two tries, although there's 50/50 chance to get it right on the first go. xDPerryg wrote:A warning will appear and you need to read it carefully.
