Very smooth upgrade!
Windows 7 host. Picked everything up and in my obscure locations.
From the looks on it you all have been very busy.

Re: Discuss the 3.2.8 release
Linux host was smooth sailing as well.
Question? With all the problems I had using page fusion and it killing my Windows 7 host, do you think it is safe to turn it back on? I see some fixes in the change log but you know I just want to be sure. You know how touchy Bill gets if you reload his software too many times too soon.

Re: Discuss the 3.2.8 release
So... cool. Now i'm back to using the censored and useless qt filedialog again (the world WORST filedialog ever created). No more easy navigation, now I have to navigate through 400 directories before finding a file.GUI: don't use native file dialogs on KDE hosts
Is there any plans to allow again kde dialog?

iTunes crashes graphics, self
After upgrading to 3.2.8 on Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 (using Ubuntu-built standard package), iTunes crashes itself, and the graphics almost immediately after launching. My 1600x1200 full screen goes black, graphics revert to 640x480 until I close the "report secrets to microsoft" pop-up, whereupon fullscreen is restored.
Strangely, downgrading back to 3.2.6 does NOT fix the issue.
Proper guest additions were installed with each upgrade/downgrade.

Re: Discuss the 3.2.8 release
@kswnsn,
I noticed that Ubuntu also updated yesterday including the kernel. Do you know if you updated the host yesterday or today? Since down grading did not put it back to the way it was I would look closely at the host.

Yes, this is by intension. PageFusion should be much more stable now.Perryg wrote:Linux host was smooth sailing as well.

Re: Discuss the 3.2.8 release
That fix is necessary because on some systems (e.g. Ubuntu 10.04) you can easily trigger the crash like described in the ticket. There is no known workaround, if you know one, feel free to contribute. And I don't think that the Qt dialogs that bad.Entity wrote:So... cool. A bugfix that is also a regression.

Re: Discuss the 3.2.8 release
The announcement for 3.2.8 on the home page says "Oracle today released VirtualBox 3.2.6".

Re: Discuss the 3.2.8 release
Perry -- good idea -- I did install the new kernel at the same time, however reverting to one or two previous kernels had no effect. Seems as if something permanent occurred on my XP guest, however doubtful that is... I guess I will try digging up the backup of my XP vdi and seeing if that changes anything... Thanks.Perryg wrote:@kswnsn,

Re: Discuss the 3.2.8 release
Oops we have a problem. I posted a ticket on it this time. http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/7278 Let me know if I need to add something or test it. This is an up-to-date Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit guest on an Ubuntu 10.04 64 Bit host. Nothing has been added to it as far as 3rd party Only MS and VBox as I use it to test VBox builds with. Also I do not use 3D/2D so 3.2.8 GAs were installed but not in safe mode.Frank Mehnert wrote:Yes, this is by intension. PageFusion should be much more stable now.

Re: Discuss the 3.2.8 release
I do sometimes wish that we had an expanded announcement, where the changes aren't self evident or have implicit changes that could burn the unexpecting user. Two for examples:
- Hard disks: fix auto-reset of immutable disk at VM startup (bug #6832)
This bug has existed since 3.2.0 and has meant that immutable disks persist over poweroff, which is not the documented functionality but something that users could intentionally or unintentionally start to use. The next time that they poweroff after upgrade any embedded changes will be lost, so they need to back them up before upgrade - Sharing disks: support for attaching one disk to several VMs without external tools and tricks
Very enigmatic, but any explanation? I guess that I'll need to dig into the source + documentation.
