Regarding install...
I have installed all versions since version 1 without issues that I could not resolve by an uninstall and re-install.
Version 3.04 bluescreened my vista x64 during install. Error points to VBoxNetFlt+0x726f.
Since the crash install attempts either roll back or bluescreen.
I manually removed vboxhost driver from the network adapters.
Since then, I have not been able to install with host network adapter checked.
I have managed to get 3.04 installed without the three optional components checked.
Could someone point me to the install log location on Vista.

How to tune the VirtualBox 3.0.4 release
I noticed that my Windows XP in 3.0.4 was running quite slow compared to what I saw with VirtualBox 2.x previously. Here is my system info: SXCE snv_111 running on two dual-core AMD Opteron 2.8Ghz CPUs with 32GB of RAM. Boot partition is on a 1TB SATA drive using ZFS (I don't trust ZFS boot just yet) with a /export volume of 5 500GB SATA drives in a ZFS RAID 5 configuration. So system resources are not an issue.
I had set it up originally to use 4 virtual CPUs, 4GB of RAM, and enables the AMD-V option. It also had the network set up as a bridge.
Network performance was the pits and just running an application seemed a bit slow compared to before. I used to see speeds that surpassed my Ferrari 3400 running XP natively.
Reducing it to only 1 virtual CPU did not seem to help. I had it downloading updates and they took hours to complete.
I just reduced the RAM to 2GB, figuring XP may not handle large RAM well, and changed the NIC to use NAT. I also disabled the AMD-V option, since I don't think these CPUs have that feature. It does seem to be running much better.
Additional settings I have enabled: ACPI Enabled, IO APIC Enabled, PAE/NX Enabled, 16MB of Video RAM, 3D Acceleration Enabled (I have an nVidia card which Solaris supports 3D on) Remote Display is off, IDE Type PIIX4, Additional SATA (AHCI) Controller enabled (not sure what this does for you), 100GB VD (expandable), CD is set for pass through, , Solaris Audio with ICH AC97 Audio, PCnet-FAST III NIC attached to NAT, Serial disabled, USB Enabled with USB 2.0 enabled, and a couple of shared folders.
I would like suggestions as to general tuning, possibly on an OS-specific basis. This is just the first OS I plan to put on this system under VirtualBox. I also will be adding Ubuntu (Desktop and Server), Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit), and CentOS (for which I assume I choose Red Hat, as there is not CentOS Linux selection listed).
I built this system with the idea that it could easily handle large virtual environments well, hence the large amount of disk space and RAM. So far it is by far the fastest Solaris X86 system I have used. Much better than the dual CPU V40s I have used previously.

The Windows installer still re-sets the manually configured host-only adapters to the default values, loosing all my custom settings for the adapters.
Something to look at cause it's very annoying to keep configuring the adapter every time a new VirtualBox release comes out and I never remember to do it, so my internet starts to fail every time I upgrade VirtualBox.

With guest Windows XP SP3 32-bit and host Windows XP SP2 64 bit, always get a BSOD on a warm reboot. A cold reboot is successful. (SATA adapter, 2 GB base, 1 processor for guest) (40 gb for 2 dual core Xenon processor for host)
A warm reboot in safe mode fails at mup.sys.
I also created a BartPE CD to use with Virtualbox. It requires SATA drivers to load from a floppy image. SATA drivers are loaded with BartPE from a cold boot, but not with a warm boot.
Please post a pointer on how to downgrade from 3.0.4 to 3.0.2. This is causing serious reliability problems.

Windows Vista x64 host installation problem. Installer appears to run fine, but VBox doesn't actually install. Doesn't show on the "start menu" list or the "uninstall control panel". Also unable to find it anywhere on disk, despite the installer appearing to succeed. Have repeated the exercise a couple times with the exact same results.

Ok, this is a first for me and it happened with 3.0.4.

I have had an issue with mounting and unmounting CDs. I am running 3.0.4 on SXCE snv_111 and I was adding various applications to my Windows XP VM. While I could eject them just fine in the Windows VM, when I put in a new CD it showed the contents of the previous one. Switching to the Guest Additions ISO image and then back to the CD drive did not resolve the problem.
I am also unable to eject the CD from the GUI or command line of Solaris, so it appears the VM locks it.
The only way I was able to see the new CD was to reboot the VM completely. When installing half a dozen CDs this is a big waste of time.
I am also concerned as to what this might do if I am running multiple VMs. This would seem to fall under the "Does not work and play well with others" category. It might be unique to Windows XP, but I wanted to report the problem. I do not recall seeing this issue with 2.2.4 on this same system.

I am also unable to eject the CD from the GUI or command line of Solaris, so it appears the VM locks it.
The only way I was able to see the new CD was to reboot the VM completely. When installing half a dozen CDs this is a big waste of time.

Just upgraded to 3.0.4 and now my PC has NO internet connection to the outside world.
This was working pefectly well before the upgrade so what could it be? I need to fix this ASAP.

It's the host and guest that has lost internet connection, not just the guest.
Further investigation showed that the LAN setting under Network connections had completely disappeared. The Bridge connection was there, and when going into the properties showed they were blank and then caused a crash.
The IT guy here spent ages trying to get it back without any luck. The only thing that fixed it was using system restore to a previous restore point in Safe Mode.
It's just luck that I had one from a couple of days ago.
This has really annoyed me as all I did was upgrade the damm thing to the latest version without changing any settings in the VM whatsoever. I'm seriously considering going back to Virutal PC as at least it didn't crash like this.
