Excuse me if this is obvious, but I've been using VirtualBox for 3 days now and the biggest improvement I've made is to change the Host key from the default Right Ctrl to the left Windows key.
Finally a use for the Windows key - Windows + F, full screen, etc.
VirtualBox, File, Preferences.
Hope you're having as much fun as I am with this.
Host Key Improvement

my notebook lacks a windows key and I also heard the OS the key is named after has some functions with it involved as well, so there is a much higher chance of conflicts.
There also is the chance, that is is not available on all platform vbox is/will be targeted.
