I have a unique problem (only on one machine) where the VirtualTap adapter does not appear after I create.
They appear in network neighbourhood, in Device Manager but not in VirtualBox main console when I am trying to assign adapter to a VirtualBox guest, they screen does not list the adapters.
Has anyone experienced this phenomena? If so, is there an answer out there on how to fix it?

Dissappearing Virtual Box TAP adapter
Re: Dissappearing Virtual Box TAP adapter
DO NOT SELECT "NAT", try Host interface next line.thasan wrote:I have a unique problem (only on one machine) where the VirtualTap adapter does not appear after I create.

Make one
First of all, click "add" icon to create a new TAP adapter, then choose Host interface (next line to NAT).thasan wrote:I did not select NAT. Please look at the lower part of image #3. There are no adapters. I cannot choose anything but NAT.

My point is when I try to do that, no adapters appear.
Try the flash tutorial below, that's all I can help.

I don't think anyone is understanding the word "disappearing". It means, I create the TAP adapter, and then when I try to add it to a guest by selecting Host adapter (instead of NAT), none appears. This only happens on one of my computers.
If someone has any insight when VB looks for these adapters, that information will be greatly appreciated.
The TAP adapters created still show up in the networking adapters' list. Just VB does not see (let me assign) them.

"disappearing" is a good word. Your thirdth picture http://tsetup.net/VirtualBoxFiles/VirtualBox-003.JPG misleading me to think that you can not make a TAP adapter , usually the new TAP adapter will appear in the drop down list just after it is created. I believe there is something else inside your computer from stopping it , you can try to clean the registry first, then reboot computer and try again. If still fail, uninstall the VB , reboot and re-install again. If still fail, propably some programs previous installed (including drivers install) block you up. In such a way, you better keep away VB from this computer if you can not figure it out.thasan wrote:I don't think anyone is understanding the word "disappearing". I have the similar problem, previously my computer can install VMWare, but now I can not. I have Virtual PC 2007 and Virtual Box installed on same computer, but my computer kicks VMWare out during install, therefore I drop VMWare even I understand that if I re-install a clean copy of Window OS then I can fix it.
Everyone here give suggestion only want to help each other.
Good luck!
