use 2nd keyboard/mouse/monitor?

Post by on »

Hi

If it possible (with free and/or pay version of virtualbox) to have a setup like this:
Buy a really fast PC,
Setup host OS
Install VirtualBox
run 2 instances of a virtualbox

now the catch:
let user 1 work with his own monitor/mouse/keyboard on virtualbox 1 and
let user 2 work with his own monitor/mouse/keyboard on virtualbox 2?

I am thinking of buying a terminal server which can make something like this happen (but only if host OS is windows):

I think as long as you don't try to access a rawdisk image it wont make any problems. As I have understood the description of the software, each User has his own Account, with his own desktop etc. so each user can start virtualbox from there and create his own VM.

But this would be a total waste of resouces. I'd prefer to buy two pc's instead for the money of two of these terminals.

As far as I know this is only possible with a Linux host, and even then, you need to be a Linux Guru to configure it properly.

Yes ! This is possible !

I have never tried it, but there is good chance, that I will be able to configure that thing.

Just yesterday I manage to put my vbox image running and displaying on my secondary monitor with its own set of USB keyboard and USB mouse...

With it my girlfriend can browse friendster freely while I finished my work on the host machine...and I don't have to buy her a laptop for only browsing the net :P

Are you guys reffering to this kind of vbox operations? I guess it's possible then.
Cheers!
