VirtualBox OSE and Guest additions

Hi,

I just wonder : my linux distribution doesn't include the Guest additions ISO file, but I read nowhere that software contained inside isn't free. Actually, I installed the guest additions in my VBox OSE guest and everything but the closed-source features (shared folders, and usb) work as expected.

So I wonder : could my distribution legally include the ISO file and redistribute it freely along VirtualBox OSE ?

are you sure?

I downloaded the free version just this week and it had the guest additions.

open a shell in your linux
run the command "updatedb"
then do "locate VBoxGuestAdditions.iso"

That should tell you where it is on your system.

Yes I'm sure ! But hey, don't forget I'm speaking about the Open Source Edition ! I also downloaded the closed-source (non-gpl) binary package and the ISO is inside.

But I was just wondering about the legal right to redistribute the ISO.
