Please repeat the GA installation and watch out for error messages in the terminal. In the past, some users ignored the reported prerequisite of installing the Linux kernel sources beforehand. ;)
Did that. With precisely the same command line, which now gave no error, I looked specifically. Log file confirms guest additions 7.0.4.

Please report back if correct installation of the GA influences the performance or not.
No change there unfortunately. Still as slow. And yes, it's a personal estimation of what degree of slowness is acceptable, but for me, it's clearly over the edge.

Seeing the hints about snail mode in both log file and VirtualBox code, it seems the situation will stay like this for at least a while to come.

I'll accept my loss and turn off anything in Windows 11 that enables Hyper-V. So no WSL2 for me, and no Docker Desktop.

Thanks for the assistance though!

Well, not all hope is lost if you can live with rebooting the host in between:

After you've fully disabled Hyper-V to VirtualBox's content, you can probably use the concept described in TenForums: Run Hyper-V, VirtualBox and VMware on same Computer to switch between a Hyper-V/WSL2/Docker compatible mode and a VirtualBox compatible mode. There's even a small ease-of-use app called "Hyper-V Switch".
