Why VirtualBox 7.0.3 cannot install ?

Post by Liz389 »

I want to test VirtualBox 7.0.3 (development revision 154539) to see if anything regarding broken graphics output has been improved.

However it can not install !!!

(Please see screenshots attached below. I don't know of any Log created by the VirtualBox installer or where to find it, so no log attached!)

Did you read and follow the installation instructions on the VirtualBox test builds page?

If you mean this:
The Windows test build packages are working precisely like a usual VirtualBox installer packages, with one difference: they will not work (the error message will point to unsigned drivers) if you install them on Windows 10 if your system has UEFI secure boot enabled. To make these test build work you need to disable UEFI secure boot in the system's UEFI config.
SecureBoot disabled! Still VirtualBox 7.0.3 cannot install

Almost got there. Next paragraph:
New starting with 6.1.37 test builds: On Windows 10 and 11 you'll need to run the installer from the command line and specify the option --force-install-timestamp-ca. This only needs to be done once on a particular system. The symptom for not having this in place is failing VirtualBox driver installs.

Turns out that option "--force-install-timestamp-ca" is not only required for 6.1.x test builds, but for 7.x development snapshots too !!! :o

(I think this should be pointed out more prominently)

Mods, This topic should be moved to the "VirtualBox Beta / Release Candidate Feedback" forum as 7.03 is a beta version.

7.0.anything does come after 6.1.37, so "New starting with 6.1.37 test builds" would include 7.0, future 7.1, 7.2, 8.0, etc, until the requirement is no longer needed.

Actually, 7.0.3 is a test build, and test builds are for the upcoming official releases. 7.0 isn't in beta anymore. Even if it feels like it
