I have, IN VB manager 6.1 a VM with Ubuntu installed.
I want to upgrade a VM from Ubuntu 20.04 to Ubuntu 22.04, but it fails, because there is not enough disk space. On the host server there is enough free space: 90 GB.
IN VB Manager the settings of the VM are:
* Settings
** Storages
*** Information: Type (Format): Normal (VDI)
*** Virtual Size: 32,00 GB
*** Actual Size: 30,16 GB
*** Details: Dynamic Allocate Storage
So I can imagine there is not enough storage to upgrade in the VM itself on this moment.
I touch dynamic storage means the storage is adjusted when needed. In the thread viewtopic.php?f=8&t=102453&p=497560&hil ... ze#p497560 I can see this should be normal behaviour.
What is happening, and how can I solve this?
increase VM storage virtual size
increase VM storage virtual size

Re: increase VM storage virtual size
@mpack. Super, it seems like solved. In settings I can see the size is increased. I will start upgrading now. If the upgrade is indeed successful, than it is 100% solved. Please have some patience, i will come back with my results.
Re: increase VM storage virtual size
I could not upgrade. I tried multiple times. I set to total virtual space from 32 first to 48GB, and later to 64GB. But There is still not enough free space.
I get the weird message 3264 M free space required. (3264 M, not MB as expected)
When running Disk- analyse I get 33,1 GB used and 4,0 GB available. Together this is 37,1 GB.
So it seems the extra space is not recognized in Ubuntu. Also not after running in the shell: and a few times a reboot.

Re: increase VM storage virtual size
Read all of the FAQ, i.e. there are 2 steps, both important.

@mpack Thanks. That was still not so easy see {offsite URL deleted}.
But in the end it did work. Thanks. SOLVED

Re: increase VM storage virtual size
If you actually read the FAQ, it's easy. If you don't read it then of course it's hard to understand.
If you want to suggest where the current wording falls short, then please do.
