Guru Meditation

Post by cgh »

After power off/on my windows 7 pro computer each time I start my Ubuntu VM I get an error message.
This Ubuntu VM was working well since now almost 1 year.
I tried already fiew things like reinstall of Virtualbox, also install a new Ubuntu VM but always the same error coming back.

I attach the error message.
I wanted to attach the log file but forum refused as the size is 250Ko.

Thanks.

The error dialog is generic: we would need to see the VBox.log file mentioned (zipped please). Include the hardening log in the zip.

But I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is: your third party antivirus got updated and now conflicts with VirtualBox.

Yep, 'tis a true bill. Your AV is in the way. It's a recent development, but we're not certain why yet. You could try letting Avast know about it, also try setting exceptions in Avast to stay out of every Virtualbox folder, install & VMs. Otherwise, you could switch to a different AV. Microsoft's AV should work.

I have been fighting with avast for 2 days, fortunetely I won :D
The problem is indeed due to Avast. To solve this I have unchecked "Enable hardware-assisted virtualization" in Avast "Settings > General > troubleshooting".
Hope this will help others.

Thanks for your help, my problem is now an old story.
